What a crew! From foraging and staying prepared with or without the 5 C’s of survival, to mastering new first aid skills for remote environments, these kids are ready to take on any challenge that comes their way! Thank you so much for letting us be a part of your Wildlings summer memories!
Some of the remote first aid skills we covered:
• Head-to-toe check
• Checking the ABCs
• Head tilt, chin lift (opening the airway)
• Placing a person into the recovery position with and without suspected neck and spinal injury
• Order of operations (treating the most severe first)
• Always checking the scene before entering
• Making sure you take care of yourself first and foremost, so that someone present is capable
• Building a stick and rope stretcher
• Tick removal
• Poisonous snake bites
• Hypothermic wrap
• Slinging arms and stabilizing breaks
• Doing a two-person lift
• Stabilizing the head with a suspected neck or spinal injury
