October 23

Your wildlings were such a blast to get lost with! We were hoping to do a fire during the workshop as the fire marshal said he was going to lift the fireban this week, however he hadn’t lifted it yet.

While out tasting and looking at different wild edibles we got lost! Lucky us, each team had their 5c’s of survival and were able to get signals set up, construct a shelter, build fires, find food, and make water filters…. Unlucky some of us forgot to do it in the right order and missed rescue and were not fully prepared for the incoming storm🫣. But that’s ok because we learn more from hiccups than doing it perfectly! And luckily we were able to work in our teams to splint our injured team member and at least our visiting bear was only a curious one!

Everyone worked so hard and deserved a rest with some apple, wild mint and mullein tea. And a sampling of our local prickly pear cactus!

We ended the day backtracking and teaching the importance of setting up markers so they don’t get lost in the first place while out hiking!

Hope to see you all in the wild again!
