CAMP OVERVIEW
This is an overview of our days, however the order will be dictated by weather and the children’s energy levels throughout the week
AMONG THE GREEN
Venture down hidden footpaths to one of Lethbridge’s most mysterious and enchanting places. Along the way, we’ll uncover the powerful stories plants have to tell—how they can heal, soothe, nourish, and inspire. As we explore, we’ll begin to recognize the individuals within the “wall of green,” learning to identify native and invasive species while building meaningful, place-based relationships. Through wildcrafting, foraging, art-making, and cooking, we’ll connect deeply with the living world around us.
EARTH IN OUR HANDS
We return to one of our all-time favourite spots—an inspiring place where creativity and play go hand in hand. Here, we’ll gather natural materials to make berry ink and feather quills. Then, channeling the wisdom of our ancestors, we’ll explore primitive skills to filter, gather, and craft our very own handmade vessels from the land itself.
CURRENTS AND CAMOUFLAGE
All aboard for an epic riverside adventure! We’ll build nature boats, make mudslides, and paint giant outdoor canvases—including ourselves—as we learn the art of camouflage! This day will be pure exploration, filled with tracking games and stealthy hide-and-seek. The river calls, and we’re answering with curiosity and play!
CAVERNS AND CREEK BEDS
Step into the past as we journey through the coulee landscapes, rich with hidden history. We’ll explore our much-loved “caves” site while sharpening our natural observation and navigation skills. Afterwards, we’ll take off to one of the muddiest and most fun places to explore the ecosystems of the river!
WILD PATHS, SILENT TEACHERS
The forest is full of teachers, and today we’re learning from the wild ones who walked these paths long before us. In one of Lethbridge’s best-loved animal sighting locations, we’ll practice stealth and patience as we track and observe local wildlife.
(Pick-up and drop-off for this day will be at the mines right by the Helen Schuler Nature Centre. To minimize walking time, we’ll be waiting there—just look for us!)
