CAMP OVERVIEW

This is an overview of our days, however the order will be dictated by weather and the children’s energy levels throughout the week

THE HUT, ORIGINS UNKNOWN
Adventure out to paths only reachable on foot to one of Lethbridge’s most unique places. Along the path we will learn how plants can be used to heal, soothe, create, and nourish. As we go on adventures, we will get to know the abundant beings all around us and begin to decipher the individuals amongst the “wall of green”. Together we’ll learn how to identify some native and invasive species and develop place-based relationships with plants as we create art and cook up foraged goods and wild-craft.

WILD CLAY
Travel to one of our all time favourite locations that naturally inspires play and excitement. We will forage for materials needed to make wild clay and berries in nature to make inks. Then honing into our ancestors by using primitive skills to gather, filter and craft a vessel!

VOYAGE!
We’re setting sail as we explore the rivers edge having opportunities to pan for gold, construct nature boats, fish, painting on life-size canvases and of course getting muddy! Every turn sparks curiosity, excitement and imaginative play! A day at the river never sounded so good! We will play camouflage and stealth games, go on wild tracking and hide and seek adventures.

CAVES, MINES AND LOOK OUT!
We are travelling back in time as we head to locations that teach us our coulees history, some long forgotten yet still buried to this day! We will be challenged with reading and mapping the landscape. What we can learn from observation? How could elevation and seeing the bigger picture help your chances of survival?

BEAVERS, TURTLES AND MORE
Animals are incredible, they have walked the same paths and patterned their lives after their ancestors for hundreds of years (if not thousands). What can we learn from our local animals? We’re off to hang out in one of our most rich animal sighting locations. Watch closely, you may have to get stealthy and learn to track…
